saab 93 key replacement Key Programming

Saab cars that were built prior to 1994 come with an immobilizer system based on coded keys. A new transponder is required for the addition of a second key, and special programming. This is usually done by the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.

The issue is that this can be extremely expensive. Always keep a spare set of keys on hand.

Transponder key

The transponder key is a key with an electronic chip that sends a signal to the car when it is inserted into the ignition. The car then analyzes the signal to see whether it is identical to the one in the key. If the signals match then the car will be able to open and start. This is an excellent way to safeguard your car from theft.
