Item upgrading allows players to increase an Best item upgrader's gear score up to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the Kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For example the perfect broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't change much after an upgrade and aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats such as crit chance, attack damage, PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are present on a single unit. This bonus can sometimes be more than the damage a weapon upgrade alone can do.

The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade item a weapon will increase until it needs an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also alter the stats of their base. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative consequences. In the case of items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them can render them useless unless you get a lucky roll.

Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their effectiveness. In the case of chests or helms, this will increase its defense base while gloves and belts increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also has the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it can sometimes reroll to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will gain when upgraded and their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item menu, using the arrows that circle. This will roll an item and alter its stats, but not reset the weapon's level or connect it to an account's status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make all the difference to your survival. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which can make it easier to navigate through tough terrain. The more defense your character is, the more value you get from every point of health and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as much as you can.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and in order to unlock them all, you must complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. Once you've done the main side quest and have completed the fountain in question, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each level will differ. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold climates, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to withstand a full on raid with a handful of friends.

Note that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll need to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power if you're Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also unlock some advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally speaking, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have some upgrades of the chest armor and helmets that let you stealthy battle certain monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, give an immediate effect. There are five kinds of potions with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their level of effectiveness. Alternatively the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust to them.

Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a table or in the chest of the Alchemist. The price of upgrades changes depending on what kind of potion you wish to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.

To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI which allows you to choose the potion that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll offer when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.

There were some changes to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. For instance, splash potions now have a duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the item hover display). The potion table is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the contents and refills the bottle.

Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are brewed with dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion can be enhanced by adding redstone. The table of potion ingredients has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added like the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.

Trinkets

A trinket could be an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece jewelry. It could also be an object or ornament that has a purpose but is not important, like a Thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is used to express friendship or affection between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons, armor, and potions. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade items vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Unlike other item upgrader kit upgrades trinkets are able to be swapped out at will without losing their stats.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrading a trinket is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing an entirely new one. You can upgrade a trinket with just 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.

When the old Trinkets are not usable they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other gear items that they won't replace soon (for example rings or cloaks). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when choosing the items to upgrade. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.

After they've become unusable trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket has an additional 1% bonus. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
