The Combo i5/i5+ features patented Dirt Detect Technology, which allows it to pay more attention on dirty areas.

The robot's automatic emptying Clean Base can hold up 60 days of debris and reduces the requirement for manual maintenance. It also has a recharge and resume feature that sends the robot back to its home base for charging when its battery is exhausted. It then picks up right where it began.

The i5+ robot is great for most homes. It's however not designed for carpeted areas or staircases. It has a limited capacity dustbin, so it won't sweep your entire home if there is lots of debris or pets. Think about the i7 or the i9 models if you're looking for a Roomba with greater power to tackle tougher environments. These robots are able to mop wet and are better equipped for stairs. With cutting-edge technology and an innovative design, the iRobot Combo i5/i5+ is an excellent option for homes that require both a vacuum and a mop.

This premium model comes with premium features and top-of-the-line performance, which will draw customers from budget competitors. The most notable improvement is the automatic dirt disposal that eliminates the need for a garbage bin after every clean. When the i7+ reaches maximum capacity in its dustbin it returns to its Clean Base, empties the contents and gets itself ready for the next clean. You can add cleaning fluid by pressing a button on the opposite side of the robot. A small water tank or dustbin is then clipped open.

The only downside is that the Clean Base occupies a lot of space. This makes it difficult to keep the i7+ in the cupboard when it's not in use. However it's a common issue with robot cleaners, and most manufacturers provide smaller charging stations that are smaller. They also fit under cabinets which makes it easier for you to cover the iRobot while it is not in use. iRobot has reached out to us following publication to clarify that the Combo i7+ is designed to be used only with the manufacturer-approved cleaning solution (sold separately). It is not recommended to fill with water, which could harm internal components and decrease the performance.
