iRobot Roomba 694

The Roomba from iRobot is a basic robot vacuum that performs well on both plain flooring and low-pile floor carpet. It's also worth taking a look at other, more premium models in the iRobot line, like the 981 or the v7. They're more expensive, but they provide significant improvements over the 694 in terms of performance on both bare and low-pile floors, follow a more efficient cleaning route and come with a larger dirt compartment, are more efficient to charge, move more easily, and are much easier to pair with smart home devices.

This self-emptying robotic vacuum robot mop cleaner does an excellent job on low-pile carpet and hard flooring. The combo brush can reach into corners and edges and it automatically increases suction when it spots carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning dirt on mid-pile carpet. The IQ's small footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are both nice features. If you wish to alter the floor levels or set areas that are not allowed to be used, you'll need to manually reset the map.

The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation features however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing system allows for superior maneuverability and the high-pile feature of its carpet cleaning mode is effective but it could get caught in rug tassels.

In our tests in our tests, the IQ was adept at handling pet hair with ease, removing an impressive amount of debris from bare floors and fair amounts of medium-pile carpet. It was less effective with shag carpets. It was unable to reach dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It was able to navigate the legs of a chair, tiny spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a bit slower on bare flooring however, it was able to recover speed and was more efficient than the other robots we have tested.

The IQ is a more suitable choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge and is more capable of getting over obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky mess. On the other side the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance, incurs lower recurring costs, and can create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to even resume a cleaning session from the point it started if it runs out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be an enormous benefit for many users.

Eufy 11S

The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich cheap robot vacuum vacuum available, but it does offer powerful cleaning capabilities at a low price. The RoboVac 11S is designed for consumers with a tight budget who don't require a complicated mapping system, or an app, to control it. The robot can run for a long time and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.

The 11S is slim and sleek, with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic and is made to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice departure from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.

The eufy11S performed well in our tests of removing larger debris and fine dust from floors. It struggled to deep clean high-pile and medium-pile carpets. The device has a tendency to bump into furniture and people along its route. However, it is able detect obstacles using sensors. It stops and emits a loud sound when it comes across an obstruction. Then, you can manually steer the device around it to get it to work again.

Another great feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match floor type and level of the mess. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you'd like it to move.

If you don't have a lot of furniture in the area you're looking to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy can spend 30 minutes intensely cleaning the area it's assigned.

You can also opt for Edge Cleaning that restricts the amount of time in each location to 20 minutes to ensure optimal battery life. With this option, the eufy will move in a spiral fashion to clean edges and corners for a thorough clean.

The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range canister robotic vacuum that is a top performer on carpet. Its performance on floors that are not bare is also outstanding.
