WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar Best item upgrade, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of The button will show the preview of an item upgrader kit's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade items coupon as well as the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Crests

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
