Titration

A thorough assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be carried out by a highly experienced consultant Psychiatrist. This will include a medical history and an assessment using the standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

After your evaluation After your assessment, you will be informed whether medication is appropriate for your situation. This will take place during your follow-up appointment (which can be scheduled in person, via video link or via phone). Your physician will explain to you the various options for medication and, if you decide to begin taking medication, we will suggest titrating dosage to ensure the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This is a process which could take a few weeks. It involves adjusting your child's medication slowly until the right balance is achieved. It is not unusual to have to titrate three or four medications before finding the best one for your child's ADHD symptoms. Unless you have decided to return to NHS care, your medication will be provided with a private prescription which you will need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in your consultation fee). You'll be required to attend every six months to check your medication, which includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be able to schedule appointment with the psychiatrist, as necessary. Usually the appointment will take place on zoom video call however in some instances it is possible to have an audio only consultation (again at an extra cost).

We will then discuss treatment options and decide on a bespoke, individualised ADHD medication adjustment. This will include a discussion and review of your medication dose and any side effects that you might be experiencing. These titrations cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 via telephone or video consultation. The pharmacy will be charged for any medication costs.
