This is accomplished through an external 'pad' handle which locks in the gap between the handles and lock case to prevent the latch from being removed or the door opened.

This type of handle is designed to fit uPVC doors fitted with multipoint locks that operate with split spindle operations. This type of operation requires the lever handle and the external pad handle to be installed on the same lock case. It is a simple switch from the current uPVC handles, but it could also require a change to the lock case or a new set of handles to accommodate this added functionality.
