Private ADHD Titration

There is a national shortage of medication to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing problems as well as an increased demand in the world.

Our service can provide private ADHD titration as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessments are free and include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A highly experienced consultant psychiatrist will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your ADHD. This includes a complete medical history and an evaluation using the standard ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your evaluation, you will be informed whether medication may be beneficial in your particular situation. This will happen during your follow-up appointment (which could be in person, via video link or via phone). Your clinician will explain what medication options are available and if you decide to start on medication we will recommend titrating dosage to ensure the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This process may take several weeks, and it involves gradually altering your child's dosage until the appropriate balance has been achieved. It is not uncommon to to adjust up to three different medications before you can find the one that best suits your child's ADHD. Parents must participate in this titration process, and keep an eye on their child's behaviour so that they can inform the doctor whether the medication is working or causing side effects.

If you decide to return to NHS treatment you will be issued a private prescription for your medication. You will have to pay for your prescription at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You'll need to keep up with your appointments every six months to monitor your medication. This includes blood pressure and pulse measurements. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is completed, you will be able to make follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist, if appropriate. The appointment is usually done via zoom video call. However, in some cases, it may be possible to have an audio-only consultation to be scheduled (again with an additional cost).

In this session, we'll discuss treatment options and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration plan. This will include a discussion and review of your dosage of medication, as well as any side effects that you might be experiencing. The titration sessions cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 via video or telephone consultation. The pharmacy will charge you for any cost of medication.

The doctor will also ask you about your family background and the impact your ADHD symptoms impact your life, as well as any relationship issues you might be facing or any other mental health problems that you may be suffering from. ADHD can be a genetic condition, which is why it's crucial to assess your family history in order to determine if you are at a higher chance of developing this disorder.

If you'd like to start treatment immediately, you can do this at the time of diagnosis. You can also take for two weeks before considering the implications of the diagnosis and the options available to you.

If you're not sure which one you prefer We suggest you speak to your GP before booking your private assessment as some providers have different rules regarding whether they require an GP referral letter or not. We also suggest that you check whether your GP accepts a "Shared Care Agreement', which means that once discharged from the clinic, you will be returned to them for the medication prescription.

Medication

The medication process is an essential part of the journey for many people looking for an official adhd titration uk diagnosis. It isn't always easy to obtain prescriptions from psychiatrists on the NHS. NHS waiting lists are notoriously long, and GPs are often reluctant to refer patients on to specialist services.

This means you can select one that provides an assessment and titration service. This can cut down on wait time by a significant amount and is more convenient if you are working and have a busy schedule.

After you've been identified as a candidate for this treatment your chosen doctor will assess you and decide whether or not you need to be monitored for a dose of medication. You'll have to fill out forms that are different for each provider, but the most common ones are self-reporting questionnaires and medical histories going to your childhood and into adulthood. They will help your physician identify any conditions that could indicate that you shouldn't be taking ADHD medications if they are prescribed.

If you are titrated on medication, it will typically include a mix of stimulants and non-stimulant drugs. These will be carefully trialled and monitored to find the best combination for you, taking into consideration any existing conditions you have. The titration process can be lengthy and may require multiple appointments before you are stable.

Based on the type of medication you are taking, follow-up appointments can be scheduled either monthly or quarterly. This will involve your clinician checking that you are taking the correct medication, noting any adverse effects you've experienced and making any adjustments needed to ensure that you remain in a safe dosage. You'll also have to attend a regular health check that may include blood pressure readings, pulse and weight and an annual check-up.

Some people may be satisfied with their treatment and do not need to discuss their titration in more detail. If, however, they require further discussion about the titration process and treatment plan, it's possible to be passed back to the same private clinic that made their initial assessment. If this occurs, the titration appointment will be included in their consultation fee, and they will receive their medication on private prescription (see Consultation fees above). This can cost more than an NHS prescription because the pharmacy will charge for the medication.
